I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? Fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Christian is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that.

Auch wenn Israel den Südlibanon und Gaza verlassen und Hamas und Hisbollah es ihm mit einem endlosen Strom von Raketen gedankt haben, "sprengt" der Jud' die "Grenzen". Auch wenn jeder Ton der islamistischen Stalinorgeln Zivilisten töten soll und Israel vor seinen Angriffen mit Flugblättern warnt, übt der Jud' "maß- wie ruchlos" Vergeltung.

Ist es da auch nur das kleinste, das klitze-, klitzekleinste Wunder, dass Israel, abermals, wie immer auf sich selbst, auf sich allein zurückgeworfen, handelt wie der geprellte Shylock, der tragische Shylock, zu seinem endlichen Ruin?

Warum verstehen wir das nicht? Warum wollen wir nicht tun, was wir tun müssen? Warum haben wir kein Mitleid mit Menschen, die Juden sind?
